12 Months Of The Wild Unknown Archetype

One of my goals for 2026 is to engage in deeper dialogue—and, of course, art making—with myself as I continue to shape and uncover my identity as a counselor and how it intersects with my personal identity. I was inspired by Kim Krans’s The Wild Unknown: Pocket Archetypes deck to pull a single card and follow its themes over the course of twelve months. I’ll be sharing that process here, and if you decide to join me, I invite you to share your reflections and insights in the comments below!
The One Card Spread This practice is loosely based on a Jungian Technique called amplification. The idea is that a single image can take us deeper into understanding our lives to we ever imagined. Within one card, an entire journey awaits.
Step 1: Pull A Card – Don’t read the description yet.
Step 2: Riff – Write about it, engage with it.
Step 3: Amplify It – Read the card description. Ponder it. Write. Go down tat wormhole of images online.
Step 4: Reflection Back – What might it be trying to tell you ?
Step 5: Keep It Going – Let it be with you, and let yourself be with it.
